The prospect of being a guitar player had always intrigued Brian, but after listening toBand of Gypsys, by Jimi Hendrix, learning the instrument became a necessity. On the next family trip back to their hometown
of Columbus, Ohio, Brian received his first guitar at the age of 14. It was a 60’s Gibson acoustic that had been his Dad’s beloved
childhood guitar. Brian wasted no time in learning to play the sweet vintage instrument, and the experience in reading music
and playing trombone he had received in the school band certainly didn’t hinder his progress. After a year of diligent practice he
received his first cheap electric guitar, and 2 years later he attained a Fender American Stratocaster, which he still cherishes to
this day.
In high school, Brian played in his first band, Solid Blues, and got his first experience
playing in shady bars, which is a staple of any young musician’s life. After heavily focusing on playing blues for a while,
he got into playing funk, hip-hop, jazz, and bluegrass, as he met and jammed with more musicians in the Jacksonville music scene. To this day he is always looking for a new style to listen to or play.
“I want my playing to be accurate and precise, wild, and above all, soulful.”
